Cardboard Recycling at the Curb!
A separate garbage truck will drive by to pick up the cardboard at the curb. The truck may be earlier or later than the normal garbage truck. (Please note the use of the garbage truck is a cost savings to the refuse collection program and the cardboard is being recycled, not thrown away into the landfill.)
Cardboard accepted is as follows: Corrugated and paperboard containers. This includes items such as cereal and tissue boxes, paper towel and toilet paper rolls, pizza boxes (no food please), paper egg cartons, and gift boxes. NO materials such as Styrofoam, garbage and other materials other than cardboard will be accepted. No cardboard with wax coating will be accepted.
How do I put cardboard out for pick up? Place smaller pieces of cardboard in a larger cardboard box or bundle all cardboard together with string. A separate garbage can or tote marked “Cardboard Only” can be used to place all cardboard recycling in for pick up. Please do not leave boxes like the lower right photo for pick up.
For more information or questions in regards to cardboard curbside recycling, please contact the Muscatine Recycling Center and Transfer Station at 563-263-9689.
