Works The Roadway Maintenance division works to provide a safe and well-maintained transportation system throughout the City of Muscatine’s infrastructure of streets. Maintenance of streets in Muscatine includes all roads within the City Limits except the U.S. 61 By-Pass and a small portion of Business Route U.S. 61, which are maintained by the State of Iowa. There are over 140 miles of streets within the City limits. In addition, the Roadway Maintenance Division maintains alleys and parking lots. The division is also involved in numerous other projects which include patching potholes and plumber ditches, making concrete repairs, cleaning and replacing culverts, assisting the Refuse Collection department during clean-up week, replacing curbs and gutters and repairing city sidewalks which include ADA panels. 2009 marks the third year of the Pavement Management Program which includes asphalt overlay, curb and gutter repair, and full depth patching. This year the Pavement Management program includes overlay work in the downtown alleys, as well as parking lots in the Central Business District. Construction Information
