| Mad Creek Levee Project
This project includes raising the height of approximately 2,200 linear feet of existing levees and 1,200 linear feet of existing floodwalls by approximately 2 feet, construction of 780 linear feet of new floodwalls, a new 23-foot-wide aluminum stop long closure structure to replace the existing steel panel closure at Mississippi Drive; a new 59-foot-wide rolling closure gate to replace the existing steel closure at 2nd Street; and installation of a new 20-foot-wide steel swing gate across the railroad south of Washington Street that currently exists as a sandbag closure. Minor modifications to the existing Mississippi River Pump Station are required to accommodate the 2-foot levee raise. The plan also includes sediment removal underneath and upstream of the 2nd Street Bridge and installation of an early flood warning system as generally described in the Detailed Project Report with Environmental Assessment by Mad Creek Muscatine, Muscatine, County, Iowa. |
