Future Projects


Cedar Street Reconstruction – This complete street reconstruction project from Houser Street to Parham Streetis now tentatively scheduled for a 2011 contract letting with construction likely starting in 2012. The project is proposed to include: street widening; curb and gutter; several left-turn and right-turn lanes; sidewalks or trail; traffic signal at the high school entrance; and stop signs at Logan and Cedar with pedestrian crossings.

Iowa 92 – This is a State of Iowa project that is scheduled for 2010. Work will consist of an asphalt overlay surface on Hwy 92 from the Mississippi River Bridge, Second Street, Mulberry Avenue, Mississippi Drive, and Grandview Avenue. Overlay will end at Dick Drake Way.

Weed Park to Wildcat Den Trail – Plans are underway for a trail to connect Weed Park to Wildcat Den. The proposed route will begin at the end of the existing trail at a pond/dock area in Weed Park. The trail will cross Park Drive, then Colorado Street traveling along Bandag Drive and alongside Bridgestone’s existing private sidewalk. Then the trail will diverge from the sidewalk to meet the end of Ford Avenue and travels east towards University Drive. The trail will cross University Drive and continue east to Solomon Road. From Solomon Road the trail will go northeasterly to the New Era Blacktop Road and then east on New Era Blacktop to Wildcat Den.

Colorado Street Reconstruction – Proposed plan is to reconstruct Colorado Street from Park Avenue to University Drive. Federal funding has been requested on this project.

Hershey Avenue Reconstruction – Proposed plan is to reconstruct Hershey Avenue from Green Street to Houser Street. Federal funding has been requested on this project.
