Since 1851 the men and women of the Muscatine Police Department have protected the rights and freedoms of its citizens. Their efforts have come with a heavy price. In the history of the Muscatine Police Department four of its members have been killed in the line of duty. The department continues to honor their memory by furthering the work they began all those years ago. Officer Thomas Moore, Muscatine’s first duty death, was only the 2nd law enforcement officer killed in Iowa’s history.
