YOUTH
3rd and 4th Grade Flag Football
Flag football for 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls has been designed to teach football skills through fun drills, skill games and informal scrimmages.
Days: Tuesday & Thursday during the months of Sept. & Oct.
Fee: $30 (includes t-shirt, mouth piece and registration in the Punt, Pass and Run skills competition)
Location: Kent Stein Park
Registration dates: August 4th through August 28th at 5:00pm.
All players are required to participate in the Punt, Pass and Run skills competition.

Punt, Pass, and Run Skills Competition
Test your punting, passing and running skills at this one day clinic! (participation is mandatory for all flag football players)
Days: September 1st for 3rd grade / September 3rd for 4th grade
Time: 6:00 pm
Fee: $4.00 (free for those registered for the Flag Football program)

Football Skills Clinic (Grades 1st & 2nd)
Instructors will teach the fundamentals of flag football through fun games, drills and informal scrimmages. This will allow children to learn the football basics prior to their participation in the 3rd and 4th grade flag football program. Trained Parks and Recreation staff will lead the clinics.
Days: Wednesdays, September 2, 9, 16, 23
Time: 5:30pm to 6:25pm or 6:30pm to 7:25pm
Fee: $20.00 (includes t-shirt)

Fundamentals & Lifetime Sports Skill Builder Camp
Have your child learn the fundamental and lifetime skills of America’s traditional and up and coming sports. The fundamental skill builder camp will teach ages 4 through 7 the fundamentals in basketball, baseball/softball, and soccer. The lifetime sports skill builder camp will be coaching ages 8 through 14 in basketball, flag football, and baseball. Through a progressive format, each child will be taught the fundamentals of the sports through Challenger Sports’ “Learning through Games” curriculum.

Days for Play is a fun and games program for 4 and 5 year olds. It will provide structure, education and enjoyment through different games scheduled for each gathering. This program will be led by qualified instructors. Important: participants must be age 4 by June 15th.

Girls Volleyball Clinic 1000.128
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will offer a girls volleyball clinic for girls in grades 6 through 8. The clinic will include instruction and drills on the basic fundamentals of volleyball plus actual play. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Terrific program for those who are interested in playing middle school volleyball.

In-line Hockey 1000.129
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Spring and Fall In-Line Hockey Program for youth in grades K through 5. This program will be held at the Muscatine Skate Park In-Line Hockey Rink for five (5) weeks. Skills that will be covered include passing, shooting and teamwork.
Dates: May 5 – June 4 and September 1 – October 1
Location: Muscatine Skate Park – Inline Hockey Rink
Fee: $12.00

Times: 5:30-6:30pm
Equipment required: Hockey helmet with face shield, shin/knee guards, hockey stick with butt protector or taped end, full-fingered protective gloves, hard cup supporter for boys, inline skates.

Coed High School Sand Pit Volleyball Tournament
The Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a Coed Sand Pit Volleyball tournament for people in 9th through 12th grades. Games will be held at Weed Park on May 30th beginning at 9am. This will be a round robin tournament. The first ten (10) teams to register will be put into two divisions of 5 teams each. The top 2 in each division will advance to championship play. The fee is $50 per team. Teams interested in participating in this program should contact the Parks and Recreation Department prior to May 22nd.
QuickStart Tennis Lessons
QuickStart Tennis is a new format fitting tennis to kids based on age and physical size. By modifying the court dimensions, equipment, net height and scoring system, kids will develop better technical and tactical skills. With these elements, kids will achieve early success and stay with the game. Students must provide their own racquet and must wear tennis shoes. Class size is limited.
QuickStart Pee Wee Tennis
QuickStart Pee Wee Tennis is a new format to help ages 4-7 learn to play the game using modified tennis balls. Court size will be 36’ long and 18’ wide.

TOT LOT
Hey parents! Tot-lot is back! Still looking for something for your 3-5 year old to do this summer? The tot-lot program will give your youngster an opportunity to use their creativity, to socialize with other children, and most importantly to have fun! This program will be led by qualified instructors. Some activities that will be included are: arts and crafts, musical sing-a-longs, organized games, free play on the playground and much more! The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will be offering adult men’s and women’s disc golf leagues. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Leagues will be scheduled on weekday evenings. Winner of the league gets a FREE Disc!

Sand Pit Volleyball League
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will offer a summer coed sand pit volleyball league. Matches will be played on Wednesday evenings at the Weed Park Courts behind the Lagoon. Adult Tennis Lessons
This program is designed for individuals with skills ranging from beginner to advanced who are interested in tennis instruction to improve their play. Tennis balls are furnished. Participants must pro-vide their own racquet and must wear tennis shoes. Pre-registration is required.

What a way to work out! The water provides resistance to enhance muscle strength and endurance as well as improve cardiovascular fit-ness. The program is geared for both swimmers and non-swimmers. Come join the fitness fun! A minimum of ten participants must be enrolled for this class to be held.
