YOUTH
3rd and 4th Grade Flag Football
Flag football for 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls has been designed to teach football skills through fun drills, skill games and informal scrimmages.
Days: Tuesday and Thursday during the months of September and October.
Time: Practice times will vary. Games will be held at 6pm and 7pm under the guidance of a field supervisor and referee.
Location: Kent Stein Park
Fee: $30 (includes t-shirt, mouth piece and registration in the Punt, Pass and Run skills competition).
Registration dates: August 3rd through August 27th by 5:00pm.
All players are required to participate in the Punt, Pass and Run skills competition.
Any adults wishing to coach or assist should contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 263-0241.
Punt, Pass, and Run Skills Competition
Test your punting, passing and running skills at this one day clinic! (participation is mandatory for all flag football players)
Days: August 31st
Time: 6:00pm for 3rd grade, 7:00pm for 4th grade

Fee: $4.00 (free for those registered for the Flag Football program)
Registration dates: August 3rd through August 27th by 5:00pm.
Football Skills Clinic (Grades 1st & 2nd)
Instructors will teach the fundamentals of flag football through fun games, drills and informal scrimmages. This will allow children to learn the football basics prior to their participation in the 3rd and 4th grade flag football program. Trained Parks and Recreation staff will lead the clinics.
Days: Wednesdays, September 1, 8, 15, 22
Time: 5:30pm to 6:25pm or 6:30pm to 7:25pm

Fee: $20.00 (includes t-shirt)

Tee-Ball Program
This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball/softball through fun drills, skill-building activities and non-competitive games that will be incorporated into the program. IMPORTANT: Participants must be age 5 by June 14th.
Location: Sessions are held in the evenings at Taylor Park, Weed Park and Musser Park
Fee: $30.00 All participants will receive a T-ball T-shirt. Fee must be paid at the time of registration.
Days: Participants will register for either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Space is limited in each session.
Time: Practices and game times will vary but all will be held between the hours of 5:30pm and 8:00pm.

Little Muskie T-Ball (4 year olds)
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a Little Muskie T-Ball program for 4 year olds. This program is designed to teach basic fundamentals of hitting, throwing and catching in a non-competitive atmosphere. This program will be led by qualified instructors. Important: Participants must be age 4 by June 16th.

Gymnastics

In-line Hockey 1000.129
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Spring and Fall In-Line Hockey Program for youth in grades K through 5. This program will be held at the Muscatine Skate Park In-Line Hockey Rink for five (5) weeks. Skills that will be covered include passing, shooting and teamwork.
Dates: May 4 – June 3 and August 31 – September 30

Girls Volleyball Clinic 1000.128
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will offer a girls volleyball clinic for girls in grades 6 through 8. The clinic will include instruction and drills on the basic fundamentals of volleyball plus actual play. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Terrific program for those who are interested in playing middle school volleyball.

Coed High School Sand Pit Volleyball Tournament
The Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a Coed Sand Pit Volleyball tournament for people in 9th through 12th grades. Games will be held at Weed Park on May 22nd beginning at 9am. This will be a round robin tournament. The first ten (10) teams to register will be put into two divisions of 5 teams each. The top 2 in each division will advance to championship play. The fee is $50 per team. Teams interested in participating in this program should contact the Parks and Recreation Department prior to May 14st.
QuickStart Tennis Lessons
QuickStart Tennis is a new format fitting tennis to kids based on age and physical size. By modifying the court dimensions, equipment, net height and scoring system, kids will develop better technical and tactical skills. With these elements, kids will achieve early success and stay with the game. Students must provide their own racquet and must wear tennis shoes. Class size is limited.
QuickStart Pee Wee Tennis
QuickStart Pee Wee Tennis is a new format to help ages 4-7 learn to play the game using modified tennis balls. Court size will be 36’ long and 18’ wide.

Fundamentals & Lifetime Sports Skill Builder Camp
Have your child learn the fundamental and lifetime skills of America’s traditional and up and coming sports. The fundamental skill builder camp will teach ages 4 through 7 the fundamentals in basketball, baseball/softball, and soccer. The lifetime sports skill builder camp will be coaching ages 8 through 14 in basketball, flag football, and baseball. Through a progressive format, each child will be taught the fundamentals of the sports through Challenger Sports’ “Learning through Games” curriculum.

The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department will offer a summer coed sand pit volleyball league. Matches will be played on Wednesday evenings at the Weed Park Courts behind the Lagoon.
