The City of Muscatine created a Tactical Emergency Medical Services Team (TEMS) to supplement the Muscatine Police Department. TEMS team consist of nine members which have been thru a series of training courses to prepare them to respond to incidents with the Muscatine Police departments special response team (SRT). Every member of the TEMS team is a certified Iowa Paramedic Specialist. The TEMS team program is designed to provide immediate life saving care for situations that include high risk warrant service, hostage situations, barricaded subjects, and other high risk situations. The TEMS team is outfitted with special equipment that will help protect while operating in this manner. Inclusion on the team is strictly voluntary and each member is aware of the risks associated with this high stress environment. |
